Food Adulteration Paragraph

Food adulteration means adding or mixing another substance to a food item in order to make more profit, preserve it for a long time or make it appealing. It reduces the actual quality of food item and causes health hazards. It is considered to be one of the major problems in our country. There is hardly any food that is not adulterated in one way or another.

There are many bad impacts of adulterated food. They are generally harmful to health and cause serious health problems like digest problem, diarrhea, dysentery, cancer, kidney failure, heart problem etc. The adulterated foods are nothing but slow poison that’s kills people slowly. Nowadays adulteration of food in our country is so widespread that it is difficult to find a food item which is safe to eat.

Milk and milk products are poorly processed, vegetables have pesticides with item, fishes are preserved with formalin and fruits are preserved with poisonous chemicals. A recent survey conducted in some areas of Dhaka city reports that 40% of 82% samples of, milk products, fish, fruits and vegetables contained DDT, Aldrin and other poisonous chemicals.

It is not unknown that strict monitoring and supervision in the production process can control food adulteration to a great extent. It is not possible for Govt. alone to control the widespread adulteration of foods. General public should be aware and should boycott the product that is detected to be adulterated. Also, Govt. must enact strict laws against adulteration. Capital punishment should be ensured to the dishonest traders who are involved in food adulteration.

খাদ্যে ভেজাল অর্থ অধিক মুনাফা অর্জন, দীর্ঘদিন সংরক্ষণ বা আকর্ষণীয় করে তোলার জন্য কোনো খাদ্যদ্রব্যে অন্য কোনো পদার্থ যোগ করা বা মেশানো। এটি খাদ্য উপকরণের প্রকৃত গুণমান হ্রাস করে এবং স্বাস্থ্যের ঝুঁকি সৃষ্টি করে। এটাকে আমাদের দেশের অন্যতম প্রধান সমস্যা হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হয়। এমন কোনো খাবার কমই আছে যা কোনো না কোনোভাবে ভেজাল নয়।

ভেজাল খাবারের অনেক খারাপ প্রভাব রয়েছে। এগুলি সাধারণত স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ক্ষতিকর এবং হজমের সমস্যা, ডায়রিয়া, আমাশয়, ক্যান্সার, কিডনি ব্যর্থতা, হার্টের সমস্যা ইত্যাদির মতো গুরুতর স্বাস্থ্য সমস্যা সৃষ্টি করে। ভেজাল খাবারগুলি ধীর বিষ ছাড়া আর কিছুই নয় যা মানুষকে ধীরে ধীরে হত্যা করে। আজকাল আমাদের দেশে খাদ্যে ভেজাল এতই ব্যাপক যে, নিরাপদে খাওয়ার মতো কোনো খাদ্যদ্রব্য খুঁজে পাওয়া দুষ্কর।

দুধ ও দুগ্ধজাত দ্রব্য খুব খারাপভাবে প্রক্রিয়াজাত করা হয়, শাকসবজিতে কীটনাশক থাকে, মাছে ফরমালিন থাকে এবং ফল বিষাক্ত রাসায়নিক দিয়ে সংরক্ষণ করা হয়। ঢাকা শহরের কিছু এলাকায় পরিচালিত একটি সাম্প্রতিক সমীক্ষা রিপোর্ট করেছে যে দুধজাত দ্রব্য, মাছ, ফল ও শাকসবজির ৮২% নমুনার ৪০% এর মধ্যে ডিডিটি, অলড্রিন এবং অন্যান্য বিষাক্ত রাসায়নিক রয়েছে।

এটা অজানা নয় যে উৎপাদন প্রক্রিয়ায় কঠোর নজরদারি ও তদারকি খাদ্যে ভেজাল অনেকাংশে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে পারে। সরকারের পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়। খাদ্যে ব্যাপক ভেজাল নিয়ন্ত্রণে একাই। সাধারণ জনগণকে সচেতন হতে হবে এবং ভেজাল ধরা পড়ে এমন পণ্য বর্জন করতে হবে। এছাড়াও, সরকার ভেজালের বিরুদ্ধে কঠোর আইন করতে হবে। খাদ্যে ভেজালের সঙ্গে জড়িত অসাধু ব্যবসায়ীদের সর্বোচ্চ শাস্তি নিশ্চিত করতে হবে।
